For the SS11 season Libertine-Libertine has worked with a handful of inspiration sources that in their own ways represent a huge part of the company’s foundation.
It follows a beautiful mix of 70′s California and post-Vietnam war influence. Blended with a look deriving from the strong naval traditions in Denmark, that also manages to team Libertine-Libertine’s roots in skate culture and love for Paris. People like Hunter S Thompson, & Kerouac are always lurking in the back ground and their significant lifestyles as hobos, writers and poets are all the source of great inspiration for the brand.
With regards to the design aesthetics, it is still all about dynamics and movement which is perfectly mirrored in the collection. It is casual and wearable with a strong focus on high quality and durable fabrics, combined with great subtle detailing. Quite simply, “no fillers all killers”- as they like to put it.
Highlights include an exclusively developed camouflage theme for the outerwear, perfectly finished shorts and a great jersey series with prints from the Paris based art director Francois Morel of Company & Co. Also known as the ”Dark Pony”, founder of the legendary Parisian fixed gear club – Rock N Rollin’ Fixie Riders. Francois also appears in the look book alongside other local characters and friends.’
